Tea Pavilion is a course project at the China Academy of Art. The pavilion is located on the platform of the building of the Architecture Department. It’s a team work. In the early stages of the design, the team conducted various experiments to understand the material properties of the veneer through physical processing methods. In the mid stage, the team studied the mechanical characteristics of the thin-shell arch, and studied the structure suitable for the design. In the later stage, the team built the actual tea pavilion together. In my opinion, this was a project that thinks about the relationship of the site and possible events, rather than just an experimental project of materials. What’s more, it was a worthwhile teamwork experience.
